Olive Lumonya Birungi
BOARD CHAIRPERSON
Olive Lumonya
Olive has over 25 years of Brand Marketing, public relations, corporate communication, customer service experience, Leadership at the Board and Management level having worked with several corporate organizations in Uganda.
Olive is a chartered Marketer (UK), from the Chartered institute of Marketing and has studied several short certificate courses including the Market driving forces from the London Business School, and the Balanced Score Card champion I USA, Branding from South Africa, Social Security financing in Italy and several others that have strengthened and broadened her knowledge and understanding on several areas.
Olive has vast experience in corporate governance having served in governance and oversight roles with various organizations in Private, Public and NGO sectors. In addition to her vast leadership and marketing experience, Olive brings onboard experience in financial management, HR management and supporting organizations to achieve their strategic goals and objectives.
Currently, Olive is the Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Uganda.

Richard S. Bbale Mugera

Richard S. Bbale Mugera
Richard brings on board over 25 years of experience in various sectors like fuels, telecommunications, and real estate and investment funds. Richard has notable achievements like growing the non-Fuel retail section of Shell Uganda to include non-Fuel dealers to a considerable business Unit. Later contributing over $ 5m a month in new initiatives. Richard spearheaded the set-up of the Marketing Communications Department and strategy and managed the company re-launch project at Celtel Uganda and has special interests in B2B Business Strategies. Richard interests include Start Up entrepreneurship for Small to Medium enterprises, Team modeling and Coaching, Leadership coaching and Time management, Conflict resolution, relationship building and Diplomacy.

Collin Mugasha Babirukamu
NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Collin Mugasha
Collin has 21 years of experience in the I.T industry in East Africa. He worked for a regional systems integrator LANTECH Africa where he was involved in numerous projects including the initial ATM rollout for Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of Uganda network (LAN) and applications as well as the UN Head Office LAN.
In 2003, he went on to work for the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) a World Bank Project at the Ministry of Finance which automated payments Ministries, Local Governments and Agencies as well as the RTGS network to the Bank of Uganda.
Collin moved on to the National Social Security Fund in 2007 as the Deputy Chief Information Officer and later Chief Information Officer for a period of 5 years to March 2015 where the Fund underwent process automation and was transformed using digital channels for member and employer access.
Collin brings onboard vast experience in financial technology, Digitalization, Business development and Strategy and Risk management.
Currently, Collin is Director e-Government services at National Information Technology Authority (NITA) Uganda.

Keith Gary Sandbloom

Keith Gary Sandbloom
Keith has over 20 years of experience in Banking and Business environments around the globe including Africa, Asia, Latin America and Caribbean as well as the U.S.A. Trained in functional areas such as credit and risk management, operations, accounting, regulatory compliance, and product development. He is a highly effective and adaptable banker with demonstrated skills in General management, Credit analysis and Human resource management. Keith has worked within the FINCA network since 2007 in different leadership positions across the globe. He served as the CEO for FINCA Zambia where he managed the transformation of the entity from a non-governmental organization to a regulated commercial microfinance. Keith also served as the CEO Kosovo and has in the recent past been charged with overseeing and supporting the digitalization of FINCA’s business model across five countries. Before joining FINCA Keith worked for SunTrust Banks, Washington DC and Citi Bank International in New York where he undertook multiple international assignments.
Keith brings to FINCA’s Board his extensive experience and skills in Retail banking, Credit risk Management, Human Resource Management, and Business digital transformation among other competences.
Currently, Keith the Vice President with FINCA Impact Finance /FINCA International a shareholder of FINCA Uganda. Keith is responsible for creating, implementing the operating strategy, and providing corporate governance leadership for multiple FINCA subsidiaries.

Safiye Ozyugun Sahin
NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
SAFIYE OZUYGUN SAHIN
Safiye is a seasoned international banker with vast experience across many banking functions, geographies, and client segments. Over the last 20 years at Citibank, she worked in different capacities as; Regional Head for Citi’s Internal Audit and Risk Management Group, responsible for Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) covering 52 countries, as Senior Investment Banker both in Turkey and in London covering several FTSE 100 multinational corporates and underwriting complex financing transactions. She also played a senior advisory role for Asia Pacific region as Global Liaison for corporate credit. Safiye also worked under Citi Microfinance (now known as Citi Inclusive Business) as a Global Business Director which is a ‘for profit’ business segment of Citigroup.
Safiye also serves as an independent director on multiple boards globally including Oxfam KEDV, FINCA Jordan and FINCA Kosovo. Safiye is passionate and committed to women’s economic empowerment, has since worked to address the issues of access to finance for micro entrepreneurs focusing on building scalable solutions and bringing the capabilities to microfinance institutions, banks and corporate clients that work with unbanked and underserved low-income communities. She is very passionate about having more female representation on Boards, in senior management and promoting women’s economic empowerment. In 2014, Safiye was awarded ‘Champion for Women Award’ by Women in Banking and Finance UK Network (WIBF).
Safiye brings onboard vast experiences in Retail Banking, Microfinance, Financial inclusion, Audit, HR, and Risk Management.
Currently, Safiye works independently as a Consultant in Banking, Financial inclusion and in Microfinance industry.

Collin Muyanja

Collin Muyanja
Collin is a strategic business professional with over 23 years of experience in the Africa region. He has lead sales and distribution both as an entrepreneur and a business leader/consultant. He has provided Sales & distribution expertise and Mobile Money strategic direction in various companies, managing multiple sales channels, created, and overseen the successful implementation of the business strategic commercial plans aimed at delivering the business plan objectives.
Collin is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 18 years of experience. He is a Shareholder and Director in several companies that include, World Planet Communications – MTN Uganda Franchisee and Distributor for Busoga region, Donville Ltd – Ugachick Distributor for Kampala central and Kibuli, Canyon Lodges Ltd – Hotel and Tourism industry and Conpro Ltd – Manufacturer and supplier of concrete products.
Collin worked with the telecoms for 14 years managing the Voice and data businesses, managing dealers and channels, plus corporate business as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer in MTN Zambia, General Manager Sales & Distribution MTN Uganda and worked as Regional Manager under Airtel Uganda. While since under Telecoms, Collins was involved in the launching and driving strategy and execution for the mobile money businesses in both MTN Uganda and MTN Zambia
Collin was until recently FINCA Zambia Board Chairperson where he steered the subsidiary team to a success story.
Collin is an excellent addition to the FINCA Uganda Board. He brings along regional experience, vast experiences in financial technology, business development, risk management and financial management.
Currently Collin is a Director, Entrepreneur and runs a chain of multi-regional owned businesses in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa.

James Onyutta
MANAGING DIRECTOR
James Onyutta
James Onyutta is a microfinance and banking professional with more than 20 years of demonstrated leadership in design, execution, and scaling of impactful financial services to populations who are most needy and vulnerable. At FINCA he leads an Executive team focused on FINCA’s vision to build a network of sustainable and scalable social enterprises that improve lives. Under his leadership, FINCA Uganda is empowering its customers through access to sustainable financial solutions.
James’ executive career spans over one and a half decades. He serves as CEO and Managing Director of FINCA Uganda a position he has held since 2016. Prior to that he served as a director and CEO of Musoni Kenya, the world’s first institution to provide a cashless/branchless banking concept delivered through Mpesa Mobile money and powered by a data driven business model, a position he held for over 3 years. James is a finance professional by educational background & prior to his CEO roles he led finance teams as Chief Finance Officer in FINCA Tanzania and FINCA Uganda over 5 years from 2008 to 2013.
A Ugandan by birth with work experience in East & Central Africa, James is a graduate of the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and a Certified Expert in Risk Management. He possesses a First-Class Honors degree in Bachelor of Business and Management from Uganda Martyrs University in Nkozi, Uganda, and is an ACCA-UK Certified Chartered Accountant.

Robert Kakande
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Robert Kakande
Robert is the Executive Director of FINCA Uganda and joined the organization in 2017. Robert is an accomplished Finance and Accounting Professional, Banker, and Business Leader. He has a wealth of practical experience spanning over 20 years, 16 of which have been at the C-Suite level. As one of the Executive members of the Board of Directors, Robert shares responsibility for Strategic direction of FINCA Uganda and provides leadership oversight on several departments and functions at FINCA Uganda
Prior to joining FINCA Uganda, Robert worked with Quality Chemicals Ltd as Chief Executive Officer where he was responsible for key positive changes in strategic direction and grew the company to the point of attracting USD. 30 million equity investment after serving as Chief Finance Officer with the same organization. Robert has also worked with Finance Trust currently Finance Trust Bank as Head of Finance and Administration where he made tremendous contribution towards turning around the company and mapping a new strategic direction to its current status as a commercial bank. Robert has also worked at Centenary Bank, the largest Microfinance bank in Uganda and practiced Public Accountancy. He has facilitated learning as a Lecturer at Makerere University Business School and has research publications under his name.
Throughout his career, Robert has received Advanced Executive Leadership training at the Wharton Business School (University of Pennsylvania) and has attended the CEO Apprenticeship Programme under the CEO Summit. He is an Alumnus of Strathmore Business School and Graduate School of Business (University of Cape town) where he has done Advanced Leadership Programmes. He holds a Master of Science degree in Accounting and Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) Honors degree from Makerere University. Robert also holds a Higher Diploma in Marketing in addition to being a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and a Fellow of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)-UK.

Claire Akampulira Ochienghs

Claire Akampulira Ochienghs
Claire brings a wealth of legal experience in Banking, Regulatory Compliance, Legal & Compliance Risk Management, Corporate and Company Secretarial matters. Claire is proactive, a seasoned Corporate Legal Practitioner with vast experience across many banking functions and financial service sector segments. Over the 12 years, Claire has worked as Head Legal, Company Secretary and Head of Compliance in the Commercial and Microfinance industry having last worked at Cairo Bank Uganda as the Head Legal & Company Secretary for seven years prior to joining FINCA Uganda. She has for ten years worked with diverse Boards spread across many geographies, gained practical experiences and expertise on Governance, Corporate law, Regulatory compliance, Legal advisory, Risk management and Corporate Strategy.
Claire has also served in different capacities in the Uganda Bankers Association – Legal committee and was Chairperson of the Legal Committee for the year 2021 with an objective to serve the industry jointly with other licenced institutions to promote and protect sector interests and provide advisory on developments in legislation, emerging legal trends, and banking best practices.
As an inhouse legal and strategic advisor, Claire focuses on developing creative legal solutions that stimulate innovation and enable growth. She is at the helm of leading a legal and compliance team that has positioned the law and regulation as a consistent conduit to business growth. Claire career mission is to develop and transform inhouse teams to think and run like the business. She is an advocate of close and proper collaboration with business stakeholders, increased effectiveness, efficiency, and optimized value creation to support organisational short, midterm and long-term goals.
Claire holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Center with various professional trainings in the areas of Governance, Leadership, Compliance and Risk Management. She is a member of the Uganda Law Society, East Africa Law Society and is completing her master’s degree in business administration (UMI) pending dissertation.

David Muheirwe
HEAD OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
David Muheirwe
David is an I.T & Project Management Professional with over 18 years’ experience in implementing and managing technology projects & solutions in the financial services, public sector & manufacturing sector. Prior to joining FINCA Uganda he worked for Mantra Technologies as a Project Manager for key public sector I.T Projects deployed at NITA-U, UNRA, Parliament of Uganda.
He previously served as Head of I.T at FINCA DRC, as Head of ICT & Channels at UGAFODE Microfinance Ltd and as a Regional Project Manager with FINCA Impact Finance handling IT & digital financial services projects in DRC, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda & Zambia.
David holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science, an MBA majoring in Project Management from Makerere University, ITIL Certification in I.T Service Management and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
David is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI-US) and has served on the Board of the PMI Uganda Local Chapter.

Primrose Kobusingye

Primrose Kobusingye
Kobusingye Primrose joined FINCA Uganda as the Head of Marketing overlooking marketing, communications, research and customer service
She has experience in Corporate Marketing Communications and a biased history of working in the banking industry.
Prior to joining FINCA, she served as the Head of Marketing, Communication, Brand and product development at Ecobank Uganda.
Primrose Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication from Makerere University and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) majoring in Public Relations, advertising and applied communication. She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)

Nantamu Ritah Oyoga
HEAD OF INTERNAL AUDIT
Ritah Nantamu Oyoga
Ritah joined FINCA Uganda Limited in June 2018 as a Senior Internal Auditor and appointed as Head of Internal Audit in July 2020. She has a wealth of practical experience in Internal Auditing, Internal Audit Quality Assessment (Auditor of Auditors), Credit Management, Micro-finance, Banking, Operations for over 10 years.
Before joining FINCA Uganda Ltd, Ritah worked with Centenary Bank as a Supervisor Internal Audit,
Ritah is a Certified Public Accountant, holds an MBA Finance at Amity University India and a graduate in Bachelor Science Quantitative Economics Makerere University. a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda and the Global Institute of Internal Auditors, (IIA).
She takes pride in her zeal to make impact in ensuring alignment of the business strategies to a strong control environment to achieve sustainable growth/ earnings of an organization. Loves people and consider internal audit as a strategic alliance/partnership towards achievement of Corporate Strategy.

Edward Ssenoga

Edward Ssenoga
Edward Senoga joins FINCA Uganda as the Chief Commercial Officer – effective January 2022.
With over 13 years of banking experience, Edward’s proficiency ranges from Sales, Credit, Digital Commercialization, with a keen focus on Customer Experience and Customer Service.
Before joining FINCA, Edward worked at Entrepreneur Financial Centre (EFC) as the Head of Sales, Service and Distribution establishing remarkable growth in the portfolio and profitability.
Prior to this, Edward had worked with two renowned Commercial banks as Personal Financial Consultant, Sales Manager (Direct Sales) and Regional Sales and Service Manager. He was also recognized by staff and management of these two commercial banks as the Best Sales Manager Best Regional Sales and Service Manager due to his great performance culture, dedication, and outstanding leadership skills.
Edward is Certified Professional Banker with Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial services and holds a degree of bachelor’s Science in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University, a Certificate in Digital Money from Digital Frontiers Institute South Africa, and a Certificate of Proficiency in insurance.

Mary Lilian Nabunya Manyonga
HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Mary Lilian Nabunya Manyonga
Mary is a multi-sectoral Human Resources (HR) and an Organizational Development (OD) expert, a Certified Trainer and Coach, grounded in business development; and has over Fifteen years’ experience of successfully designing, leading, and implementing Human Resources Business Partnering with leading multi-national organizations like: Stanbic Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank; state parastatals like: Uganda Management Institute and Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (formerly Uganda Television).
Mary is currently Head of Human Resources, FINCA Uganda, leading and accounting for the implementation of the Company HR Strategy in line with organizational policy, best practices, legal and regulatory frameworks. To achieve a competitive advantage, Mary supports the attraction, recruitment, deployment, development, engagement, retention of talent in partnership with the Bank business line managers. She drives enhanced business performance by identifying and delivering critical HR support requirements, provision of flawless consulting/ advisory services in line with instructions set targets, and in alignment with the overall bank’s HR strategy.
Mary is a certified Transformation coach from CoachMastersacademy, member of the International Coach Federation and a chapter founder member of the International Coach federation Uganda Chapter. Mary is a fervent transformative career and performance management coach. She is also an active member of the Human Resources Manager association of Uganda. Robinah Siima
Robinah Siima is an accomplished accountant and financial leader with an impressive track record. As the first female Head of Finance at FINCA Uganda, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the organization.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has excelled in various facets of finance, including internal controls, compliance, financial analysis, and strategic advisory. Her experiences working with Ernst & Young, and the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) have further enriched her understanding of the financial landscape.
Robinah holds an MBA from the esteemed Amity University of India, complemented by a First-class Honors degree in Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM) from Makerere University Business School (MUBS). Her commitment to professional development is evident through her membership in prestigious organizations, such as the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), the Corporate Finance Institute (FMVA), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
Her appointment underscores her exceptional expertise, including her strong analytical mindset and her ability to excel in various aspects of finance. With a focus on meticulous planning, compliance, and robust internal controls, Robinah is dedicated to driving the financial institution’s success. She firmly believes in leveraging financial potential to create positive impacts and foster sustainable growth, a philosophy she has honed through her multi-sectoral experience, including roles at the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) and Ernst & Young.

Michael Tony Mbusa
HEAD OF INNOVATIONS AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Michael Tony Mbusa
Michael Tony Mbusa is a transformational leader with over 15 years of experience working with Banking and Financial Technology companies (Fintech). He is widely experienced in Business Development, innovation strategy, strategic governance, digital financial services, product development, Project management, marketing channels development, organizational cultural transformation, Business process-reengineering, and Risk and Operational Control Management.
Prior to joining FINCA Uganda, he served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Head of Channels Management at Africa’s first interoperable Agent Banking platform – Agent Banking Company of Uganda Limited (ABC).
Prior to joining ABC, Michael worked at DFCU Bank, as the inaugural Senior Manager-Agency Banking. He has also previously served as Branch Manager for DFCU’s flagship branches, among other several roles. Michael is an Award-winning leader, among his several Awards are the recipient of the prestigious Employee of the Year Award at DFCU Bank-2017 and several certificates of recognition from the DFCU Board of Directors for excellent performance.
Michael holds a First Class MBA from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute -ESAMI. He has also studied project Management and Finance at the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. He has undertaken executive Education programs at Strathmore Business School. He is also an alumnus of programs at the Digital Frontiers Institute-South Africa among others. As an undergraduate, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education (Economics Major) from Makerere University.

Sophia Nabbona Kihumuro
HEAD OF CREDIT
Sophia Nabbona Kihumuro
Sophia is a seasoned banker and business leader with 17 years’ experience in banking. She has vast knowledge in customer service, credit analysis, relationship management and business leadership in the financial sector. She has in depth knowledge of retail, commercial and corporate banking with technical competence in structured lending, portfolio management, banking operations and digital banking.
She holds a Master of Business Administration degree and Bachelor of Commerce degree from Makerere University.
Prior to joining FINCA, she was Head of Credit at United Bank for Africa Uganda Ltd. She also served as Head of Credit, Relationship Manager and Corporate Credit analyst at NC Bank Uganda Ltd and served in various roles at Standard Chartered Bank within Credit, Sales and Operations.
She is a people focused, passionate and solutions driven leader with experience in managing teams to execute strategy and deliver results.

Mary Mpirirwe
HEAD OF RISK
Mary Mpirirwe
Mary holds a master’s degree of Management Studies with a bias in Financial Management from Uganda Management Institute and a bachelor’s degree in international business from Makerere University. She is a Certified Expert in Risk Management awarded by Frankfurt school of Finance & Management; Certified AML specialist; holds an International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP); holds an ACI dealing certificate facilitated by ACI-Financial Markets Association and an alumnus of Strathmore University Business School.
She is responsible for overseeing the subsidiary’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and brings to FUL a wealth of experience in risk management and financial services spanning over 14 years. She has handled various facets of risk management including- Enterprise risk management, Liquidity risk, credit risk, market risk and Basel II among others. She served at Housing Finance Bank in various capacities and Equity Bank Uganda before joining FINCA Uganda Limited in April 2023.

Joanita Nansubuga
INTERNAL CONTROLS MANAGER
Joanita Nansubuga
Joanita is a well-established, distinguished, experienced policy monitoring and fraud risk officer at FINCA Uganda. As such, she leads FINCA Uganda’s internal controls Unit: providing strategic direction and focus. She is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a compliance risk management framework within the institution; he/she develops the institution’s wide controls coverage plans that help FINCA Uganda remain compliant and avoid regulatory sanctions.
Her Unit purposes to;
- Maintain an optimal control framework for the organization that facilitates a proactive approach to issue identification, resolution, escalation and implementation of actions to manage control gaps in order to mitigate any risk that could occur and harm the organization.
- Lead and manage the controls team in discharging their responsibility towards overall improvement of the control environment across the organization and providing assurance that processes for implementing controls, monitoring and reporting on the environment are in accordance with the organization’s management framework, standards and policies.
- Contribute to the organization’s business strategy through partnership with the executive management of business/enabling areas in formulation/execution of their programs towards achievement of a compliant and sound control environment.
- Establish and maintain a routine monitoring framework upon which Internal Audit can place reliance at its discretion, on the effectiveness of controls at such a time and basis agreed to in consultation with Group Internal Audit.
Joanita Nansubuga is currently the Internal Controls Manager – FINCA Uganda. She is experienced in the Microfinance Industry with a vast wealth of achievements and experience that spans over a decade in the same industry. She is a resourceful person with a value-oriented approach to the work situation; she mixes with people readily with a driving manner that is motivating. Certainly, she expects people to keep up with her, an enthusiastic, team player, and dependable person. Therein, she is also a proactive credit analyst and management expert, experience she gained over years in credit management positions and other senior management positions at the branch level, with the same institution.
Joanita is an experienced fraud risk management specialist with an over 10+ hands on application of great quality controls to FINCA’s operations.
Over the years, she has taken training certifications and workshops in Fraud Risk Management with, The Association of Certified Compliance Professionals in Africa (ACCPA). Charles is the Banking Services Manager at FINCA Uganda Limited (MDI).He is responsible for management of FINCA Uganda’s Banking operations and related services. He is a Finance professional with over 20years experience in the Banking industry. He has served in various positions as a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant and Acting Head of Finance. Charles is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration from Ndejje University and an MBA from Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi.
